Dental Cleanings & Exams
Visiting our office for regular cleanings and exams is important for maintaining great oral health and dental hygiene. During these visits, we will examine your mouth, teeth, and gums for any signs of abnormalities or cavities. In addition, we will clean your teeth and remove any built-up plaque and tartar. We will provide you with the resources and information you need to maintain good at-home oral health habits and help prevent dental problems later in life.
A dental restoration or filling is used to save natural tooth structure, protect against broken teeth, and improve strength and stability. We utilize traditional amalgam/silver fillings, composite fillings, and in rare cases, glass ionomer restorations. All of these methods are safe and effective ways to restore function to your teeth and stop bacterial destruction.
If you have a tooth that has been damaged from an injury or decay, a dental crown may be used to restore function, strength, and stability to the tooth. Crowns are used for teeth which cannot be fixed with bonding materials. This restoration option is also used to restore teeth after a root canal. The area of your mouth being restored determines what type of materials is used for your crown.
Dental bridges are used to close gaps in your mouth caused by a missing tooth or teeth. If left untreated, a missing tooth can significantly impact your dental health. This includes causing teeth on either side of the gap to shift, which can result in discomfort, pain, and an unsightly smile. The dental bridge is permanently cemented to adjacent teeth to help maintain the positioning of your remaining teeth.
A veneer is a restoration option which can be used to correct misaligned or crooked teeth and close spaces between their teeth. Veneers are custom-made out of porcelain or ceramic laminate which is applied directly to the teeth. These are resistant to discoloration from dental bleaching and are almost undetectable because the veneer takes on the natural color of your tooth.
Endodontics, or root canals, are necessary when a cavity has reached the pulp of a tooth, causing an infection. If your tooth has experienced severe trauma, a root canal may also be necessary. During this treatment, we will clean out and remove the diseased pulp for your tooth. We then disinfect the interior of the tooth and seal the canals of the tooth. This helps prevent future bacterial infections. At the close of the procedure, we will restore the tooth with a crown or filling.
A variety of factors can cause tooth discoloration including tea, smoking, coffee, and aging. If you want to restore brightness to your smile, we will work with you to determine which whitening treatment best fits your goals for your smile. Our practice uses Spa Dent, which provides you with results in one treatment and does not require take-home trays. These treatments typically take less than one hour and have long-lasting results.
Partial dentures are used to replace multiple missing teeth. These restore your ability to chew properly and also help your remaining teeth last longer by spreading occlusal forces (biting pressures) between more teeth. Each set of partial dentures is custom-made to fit a patient’s particular needs.
